An elevated level of care and nourishment is required for new mothers. The practice of staying home for 40 days or more in a bubble of extra protection is practiced in many cultures around the world. This is done so that new mothers may have the opportunity to fully heal and bond with their child while they begin to feed them, as well as so they may have the opportunity to tune in to the messages that their bodies are sending them for the next phase of their journey into motherhood.

Having access to healthy, warming, nutritionally dense, rich, unctuous, easily digestible food for this journey is crucial. This practice will begin to help replenish what has been depleted through pregnancy and childbirth. Mothers give so much during all stages of motherhood.

Let this be a moment where mom can be as pampered and relaxed as possible so that she may begin to pour from a full cup. It is a radical act of self-love to allow yourself to be deeply nourished in the ways you really need, so that you can access the most profound parts of yourself. May this depth show up in the way you live and love those around you.

Chef Amanda Grace draws on her more than 14 years’ experience as a healing and whole-foods chef to bring this postpartum meal prep offering to support new mothers and their families. A bespoke collection of dishes will be created to suit each mother especially.

Chef Amanda Grace Service Agreement

  • Chef Amanda Grace (CAG) will collaborate with you, the client, on a custom-curated menu based on your specific needs to create, package and label food specific for your 40 days postpartum. CAG will arrive at your home with the necessary ingredients to cook as much food as is possible in the allotted time. CAG makes no claim to any sort of medical qualification and any advice will be taken at your own risk. CAG will be drawing on her 14 years of experience as a healing, whole foods chef.

For quality control purposes, CAG asks that the client/chef correspondence be in writing via email. Menu planning, correspondence, travel fees, etc. are included in the client’s quoted day-rate. Any additional expenses, including and the sourcing of ingredients and any storage and labeling equipment, will be the client’s responsibility to be paid from the expenses budget. All of the agreed upon menu items are subject to change from the initial menu due to ingredient availability, quality, or other unforeseeable factors. CAG sources organic ingredients first, then local/sustainable from Whole Foods Market or Erewhon or similar. Please inform CAG if you would prefer her to frequent a different store. In some cases, it is necessary to supplement ingredients from your neighborhood grocery stores, specialty food stores, and farmers markets.

CAG promises to do her upmost to use primarily whole-foods only, best available, organic and locally grown wherever possible, to avoid seed oils, highly processed foods, food dyes, preservatives, synthetic sweeteners, highly refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup, bleached, bromated enriched flour and grain products, anything unnaturally coloured or modified, GMOs, chemicals, or anything unpronounceable or which she suspects or is knowingly aware could have an adverse effect on the health of humans.

  • CAG will promptly arrive to your home at the agreed-upon time on the agreed-upon date(s) and will need full access to the cooking area for the agreed-upon hours. Please make your home accessible on the scheduled cook-date. If for some reason, CAG cannot access your home you will be charged as a last-minute cancellation and will be expected to reimburse for the cost of your groceries. Clients, children, pets and other distractions should be out of the kitchen area on all scheduled cook-dates. We respectfully request that the client allow CAG to perform her professional services without interruption.

  • A nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the billable amount of the total job must be made to secure the cook-date. This amount is nonrefundable except in the unlikely event CAG must cancel your cook-date. Please provide two weeks of advanced notice if you choose to reschedule a cook-date. If you fail to give proper notice to your chef, the full rate of the total job will be invoiced to you on the cancelled date.

  • CAG takes great pride in her work and promises to respect you, your home and your equipment. CAG will leave her workspace as clean as she found it, remove any personal equipment, and put away all leftover groceries. Please make sure your kitchen area is clean and ready for CAG on her scheduled cook-date and that your meal containers are ready for use, and there is adequate space in the fridge, freezer and cupboards for storage, and that there are adequate garbage/ recycling bins and bags available for waste disposal. If the kitchen does not meet basic health code standards (i.e. no running water, no electricity, no adequate storage available, etc...) CAG will prepare and store what she can, you will be charged the day-rate and reimburse for groceries.

  • Your meals will be packaged and supplied with suggested heating and serving instructions for your convenience. Although CAG tries her best, the instructions may be subject to inaccuracies due to inconsistent oven temperatures, type of equipment, etc. Instructions may also be written-in on printouts due to changes in the dish and how it was stored on-site. CAG is not to be held liable if you choose to ignore common food safety practices by not storing, defrosting, reheating, or using proper sanitation with regards to your meals. As food is being prepared in a home kitchen, CAG will of course do her best but cannot absolutely guarantee allergen-free meals. Any and all food allergies, dietary restrictions, food aversions must be shared with CAG at the time of booking.

  • Packages start at $5000 inclusive.

A 50% deposit of the total billable amount, must be made to secure the dates. The remaining balance will become due immediately upon completion of the job. Fifteen days after the service date, a late-fee of 10% of the invoice will be added to the outstanding bill along with a credit card processing fee of an additional 3% of the invoice.

Cash, checks, direct bank transfers, all major credit cards, or PayPal payments are accepted forms of payment. This booking form will accept Paypal or all major credit cards. Please contact Amanda Grace to discuss alternative payment methods at treats@chefamandagrace.com
